Rise Against - O2 Academy, Newcastle - Wed 18th November 2009

Its been nearly a full week since my last blog, really gonna try get my ass in gear and try and get all my blogging up to date as I have a few older things I wanna post up on here in the coming few weeks. Things are starting to slow dwon on the music front now with the run up to Christmas. I'm pretty sure I only have maybe 4-5 more gigs left this year. I attended Emmure and Caliban last Tuesday, but im not a fan of either bands and im not in any hurry to post up a blog with images from that shows, the lighting was really hard work and was the first gig in nearly a year that I have had to pull out the 1.8 prime.

So after still buzzing from the Lily Allen show a few nights before I headed down to the sold out Newcastle Academy to see 3 well established bands play tonight. First to take to the stage was Florida's very own Posion The Well, a band I have only ever seen before at festivals but heard such good things about. They were pretty kick ass tonight, maybe slightly heavy at times for the crowds who were in attendance this evening but still went down a treat with on lookers. A pretty easy band to shoot, at times the lighting was pretty good to me during there set. The energy and movement from all band members made it that little bit harder to shoot then preferred but all in all a good set of images.

Next on the bill was Thursday, they seemed to kick there set off in style but after the first 3-4 songs they became pretty tame and I felt like each song was the same as the last. A band who's set really seemed to drag. The front man Geoff Rickly was a very active member on stage and was moving all over making it difficult but still manageable to get the required shots.

Finally the band I personally was really looking forward to seeing took to the stage. I have only seen Rise Against before at festivals I think - so was not sure what to expect from there live show but it was full of energy and really entertaining to watch.  A good selection of new and old stuff which made for an enjoyable set for all. Shooting them was pretty harder then I had hope, lack of front of house lighting didn't help along with them all being really active on stage. Still managed to make the most of the little available front lighting when I got the chance to get the shots I needed.

I was shooting this show for Push To Fire, you can view all the images from this show on their site HERE
