Sonic Boom Six

Sonic Boom Six - O2 Academy, Newcastle - Sunday 24th January 2010

Last Sunday I was lucky enough to photograph Reel Big Fish with two great support bands. Sonic Boom Six and one of my all time favorite bands - Big D & The Kids Table. I liked some of the images from each set that much that I felt each band from this show deserved there own blog. So here I am, a week late writing my first blog and posting up images from Sonic Boom Six's set.

Shootingwize this whole show was pretty easy to shoot. It was my first show in nearly 2 months but a great show to get back into it. I have shot SB6 quite a few times before so I know what to expect but never in the main academy. I missed them last time they played in their (with Reel Big Fish in 2008) so I was glad to arrive on time to this show and actually see them. The lighting was pretty impressive for a support band in the Newcastle Academy which made shooting a little easier. Lots of nice purple lights with just the right amount of smoke to not ruin the pictures but give a great effect. Stupidly though I shot this whole set on a stupidly high ISO which you can see from all the noise in the images.  It was my first time shooting live music in a while so not everything was going to go right!
